Dr. Mead graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School. Her post-graduate training includes residencies in General Surgery and Plastic/Reconstructive Surgery. She completed a General Surgery Residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and completed both a Hand & Microsurgery and a Plastic Surgery residency at Wayne State University in Detroit. As part of her Plastic Surgery Program, she also had Cosmetic Surgery training at Manhattan Eye Ear & Throat Hospital in New York. She is certified by the American Board of Surgery, American Board of Plastic Surgery, and certified in Surgery of the Hand by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Mead is married and has two children. She loves to spend time with her family and their many pets, as well as pursuing her hobbies in photography, scuba diving, and writing. Dr. Mead is the 2nd youngest of four. She has a brother who is a medical missionary in Kijabe, Kenya, a brother who is a local orthopedic surgeon, and her youngest brother is an attorney also local.
